The leader of the US Muslim organization, Nation of Islam, Louis Farrakhan says the United States and Britain have been seeking to undermine Iran’s Islamic Revolution since its victory in 1979.

Speaking at a press conference in the Iranian capital, Tehran, Farrakhan added on Saturday that the Iranians have been able to foil all the enemy plots.

“From the moment that Imam Khomeini and the forces of revolution overthrew the Shah, Iran was in the crosshairs of the Western world; particularly the United States of America, Great Britain and others.”

Farrakhan also pointed to Saudi Arabia’s funding of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein to wage a war against Iran in the 1980s.

The leader of the African American religious movement also touched upon the crises plaguing the Middle East and Muslim countries.

He said the current turmoil in some Middle Eastern countries had been plotted by the United States way before the September 11, 2001 attacks in America.

Visiting Iran for celebrations marking the 37th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution, Farrakhan earlier hailed the “wonderful revolution” and said Iran was emerging “stronger” and “more influential” than before.

On Thursday, millions of Iranians marked the victory of the 1979 Revolution, led by late Imam Khomeini, which put an end to the monarchical rule of the US-backed Pahlavi regime.

In Tehran, people from all walks of life joined officials to descend on the iconic Azadi Square where President Hassan Rouhani addressed the nation.

Thirty-seven years after the Islamic Revolution, the world powers are now “admitting mistakes” in dealing with Iran, he told a huge gathering.
