Indonesia opens school for orphan orangutans

Orangutans are highly intelligent creatures whose population is in danger due to illegal poaching and habitat loss. Now, the International Animal Rescue in Indonesia has made it its mission to save them.

The organization has opened a special school for orangutans in an attempt to teach them how to survive in the wild.

These baby orangutans have lost their mothers. That means, they don’t have the opportunity to learn everything they need in order to survive on their own.

But with the help of the school, these orangutans will hopefully gain the much-needed skills. For example, they're taught how to roam on trees. They also learn what to eat, as well as all about the dangers they may encounter.

And once the orangutans have learnt the survival skills, they'll be taken to the wild. The sanctuary is currently housing 102 orangutans.
