Coric makes winning start at Rotterdam Open

Borna Coric celebrates his win over Thiemo de Bakker

Borna Coric of Croatia has made a winning start to the Rotterdam Open by defeating Thiemo de Bakker of the Netherlands.

The Croatian teenager won the first set on Monday on a tie-break. But the local favorite fought back and broke Coric's first two serves before taking the second set 6-4.

The Croatian then completed his win by taking a 5-3 lead in the deciding set and serving out to love after 2 hours, and 34 minutes of play.

Next up for Coric is a 2nd round meeting with the winner of the game between fifth seed Gael Monfils of France and Latvian Ernests Gulbis.
