Iran arrests terrorists along eastern, western borders

Iran’s police chief Brigadier General Hossein Ashtari

Iranian border guards have arrested 10 members of terrorist groups who were attempting to infiltrate into the country through eastern and western borders, Iran’s police chief Brigadier General Hossein Ashtari says.

“Outlaws and anti-revolution groups have been making movements in border regions in recent months and we took pre-emptive and preventive measures to counter these anti-revolution groups,” he told reporters on Monday.

He added that the terrorists failed to sneak into the country.

The police chief emphasized that Iran has a satisfactory security situation and expressed hope that the country would improve border security in cooperation with neighboring states.
