Real Madrid smash Espanyol 6-0 in La Liga
Real Madrid have smashed Espanyol 6-nil, courtesy of Cristiano Ronaldo’s hat-trick, to remain in the title race.
The Madrid giants opened the scoring in the 7th minute when James Rodriguez reached Karim Benzema with a superb cross and the striker sent a tremendous header into the bottom corner.
The hosts doubled the lead through Ronaldo as he rifled a penalty into the bottom left corner after he was brought down in the box.
REAL netted their 3rd in just 15 minutes, thanks to Rodriguez who made his way into the box after breaking the offside trap and lashing a strike at goal.
Los Blancos started pushing for a 4th goal in the dying seconds of the 1st half and were rewarded when Ronaldo netted his second, truly a wonder-goal, after dancing past 3 opponents and smashing a powerful left-footed strike.
The Portuguese ace made it 5-nil in the 82nd minute when he headed home from close range after a fine cross from Jese, before Espanyol’s Oscar Duarte beat his own goalkeeper for the hosts to claim the 6-nil win.
