Israeli forces shot and injured seven Palestinians during new clashes in the city of Bethlehem on Friday, medical sources said.

The Palestinians were hit by rubber bullets during the clashes, media quoted sources at the Red Crescent as saying.

The sources said a dozen other Palestinians suffered excessive tear gas inhalation during attacks by Israeli forces.

Meanwhile, Israeli troops attacked a weekly protest in the village of Nabi Salih northwest of the city of Ramallah. A foreign activist was injured with live bullet fired by the Israeli forces.

Palestine Ministry of Health said seven Palestinians were also shot and injured during clashes in the eastern parts of Gaza Strip, according to a report by al-Aqsa satellite television. The report added that one of the injured is in critical condition.

It is not the first time Israeli forces shoot Palestinians. More than 30 Palestinians sustained gunshot wounds during clashes with Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank and the besieged Gaza Strip on January 23.

Tensions are high since Israel’s imposition in August 2015 of restrictions on the entry of Palestinian worshipers into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East al-Quds (Jerusalem).

The restrictions have enraged Palestinians, who say Tel Aviv seeks to change the status quo of the compound.

At least 165 Palestinians, including women and children, have been killed at the hands of Israeli forces since the beginning of last October.
