Fox News is pleading with Donald Trump not to cancel his appearance at the network’s Thursday night GOP debate in Iowa, but Trump is unwilling to reconsider his decision of boycotting the event.

Trump, the leading candidate for the Republican nomination, announced on Tuesday that he would not participate in the GOP debate because, he claimed, Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly treated him unfairly during a previous Republican debate hosted by the network.

“Don’t walk away from it!” O’Reilly pleaded with Trump on Wednesday night’s “O’Reilly Factor” on Fox News. He asked him to say, “I might come back, forgive, go forward, answer the question, look out for the folks, just consider it.”

The top Fox News host used many tactics to convince Trump to participate in the debate: He scolded, cajoled, and almost begged Trump to change his mind. But Trump refused to budge.

“You could absolutely secure this Republican nomination,” he said. “I submit to you that you need to change and get away from the personal.”

When all else had failed, O'Reilly made one final argument: "I bought you so many vanilla milkshakes. I bought you so many vanilla milkshakes — you owe me. Will you just consider? I want you to consider, all right? Think about it."

Trump, however, continued his attacks against Kelly, who he has been criticizing ever since she challenged him on his controversial remarks about women at the first GOP debate back in August.

“I have zero respect for Megyn Kelly,” Trump said. “I don’t think she’s good at what she does and I think she’s highly overrated. And frankly, she’s a moderator; I thought her question last time was ridiculous.”

“I don’t like being used,” said Trump regarding Kelly, who is also set to moderate Thursday night’s debate on Fox News.

Trump and Kelly have had an ongoing feud since the first GOP debate during which Kelly confronted the controversial candidate about his disparaging remarks about women, calling them "fat pigs," "dogs," and "slobs."

Trump’s supporters subsequently threatened Kelly and the candidate himself attacked the journalist in various TV appearances.

Fox News said Tuesday the war of words escalated behind the scenes over the weekend, and accused Trump’s campaign manager of "terrorizations" against Kelly.
