Iranian female Paralympic archer Zahra Ne’mati has been named as the flag-bearer of the Iranian sports delegation at the forthcoming 2016 Summer Olympics, which will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, next August.

According to a statement posted on the National Olympic Committee of the Islamic Republic of Iran (NOCIRI) website, the 30-year-old Iranian sportswoman will carry Iran’s flag at the opening ceremony of the Games.

On November 13, 2015, Ne’mati secured a place at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio.

She vied at the individual recurve competitions of 2015 World Archery Asian Para Championships in the Thai capital city of Bangkok on Friday, and picked a gold medal for the Islamic Republic with a total score of 647 points.

The 2015 World Archery Asian Para Championships started in Thailand on November 10, and concluded on November 19.

The tournament brought together dozens of male and female Paralympic archers from 15 Asian countries, including China, Chinese Taipei, Iran, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea and Thailand.

Earlier on November 8, Ne’mati earned a slot at the 2016 Olympic Games by taking silver in the women’s individual contests of the Asian Archery Championships in Bangkok.

“I do my best to win honors in Olympic and Paralympic Games simultaneously. I am so happy to get this, since I motivate all archers in my country,” she said at the time.

The Asian Archery Championships began in Thailand on November 1 and wrapped up on November 9.
