World's second-highest skyscraper completed in Shanghai
China has managed to complete the construction of the world’s second tallest high rise in Shanghai. It took six years of construction for the 632-meter-tall Shanghai Tower to be completed.
The Shanghai Tower pushed Chicago’s 442-meter Willis Tower out of the Top 10 list for the first time since it was completed in 1974.
The tower broke ground back in 2008, as the third tower in the trio of skyscrapers located in Shanghai’s Lujiazui Finance and Trade Zone.
The skyscraper features a high-performance facade, sky gardens, rainwater collection systems and wind turbines, among several other sustainable technologies.
The tower features 128 floors and comprises 420,000 square feet of floor space available to be used for different purposes.
Its highest occupied point is at 561.3 meter and to get there, occupants make use of one of 106 Mitsubishi-designed elevators, with a maximum speed of 40 Kilometers an hour.
