UK to face coldest winter in 58 years

The UK is bracing itself for the coldest winter over the past 58 years.

The UK is bracing itself for harsh weather this weekend. Report say the country is going to experience the coldest winter over the past 58 years.

According to forecasters, the UK is to face gales, plummeting temperatures and even snow, as the freak weather threatens to cause travel chaos. Experts say the Arctic freeze will be driven in from Siberia and the North Pole.

Over the past weeks, the country saw milder weather which brought welcome respite to areas battered by Storm Frank. Now the Arctic freeze is set to bring flooding and difficult conditions again.

Media reports say, two severe warnings for “danger to life” have been put in place in Scotland for the towns of Inverurie and Kintore.  Dozens of residents in Aberdeen have been evacuated from their homes amid flooding fears. Flights were unable to land at Aberdeen Airport yesterday evening, after “unprecedented rainfall” damaged a section of tarmac on the runway. Emergency services reported being called to assist people stuck in cars and on trains on transport routes between Aberdeen and Dundee.

The government has warned the locals against any unessential travel. Meanwhile, rest centers have been established and more than 20 schools have closed as a precaution. A yellow warning for snow and ice is also in place for much of Scotland, Northern Ireland, north west and north east England.
