UN military presence not beneficial for Africans: Pundit

Press TV has conducted an interview with Randy Short, an expert on African affairs from Washington, to discuss the harassment of four young girls in Central African Republic by the so-called UN peacekeepers.

The following is rough transcription of the interview.

Press TV: It seems that the UN is not being able to control its forces at least in Africa. What do you make of this?

Short: Well, they’re not really there for the benefit of Africans in the first place and this pattern is in the Congo. It also includes their partners that dominate powers within the UN; France, Great Britain and American soldiers. And the case of American soldiers in Somalia, [who] were molesting Somali girls, which led to America’s forces being driven out by the Somali people.

The UN has always served the purposes of the Western white colonial powers and in this instance, they’re helping France. The French, the Americans, the Portuguese have always not only raped the land of people who are black in particular, but also raped the people.

So, Why would you expect ... how can the very people who perpetrated the injustices and have caused these proxy wars, bring about peace, and why would they want it?

Press TV: Mr. Short, then this raises a very interesting question about why is it that the UN peacekeeping force is called in every time there is a conflict in Africa at least?

Short: Well, it’s because the Central African Republic is a French new colonial possession as is Mali, Niger. And so, let us remember the Berlin Conference of 1885 basically parceled out Africa to the nations of Europe and America for their benefit.

And what you will see is more conflicts as the United States strategy, the BRICS countries are out, and they want to continue to exploit Africa and black people globally.

So, and the hypocrisy in this is that you can get, the African Union to have soldiers in Somalia on behalf of America and you can have them in Iraq and Afghanistan, and they’re going to invade Burundi, it looks, and yet they can have Africans solve their own problems.

In fact, the United States is trying to destroy Nigeria, because they’re angry that the Nigerians ended the fighting in Sierra Leone and Liberia in the 80s and 90s.

So, this is about keeping Africa under control, keeping a white military colonial presence whether it’s AFRICOM or the UN to allow the exploitation and domination of Africa for the benefit of white Western powers.
