Mission possible: NASA designing systems to take humans to Mars

Mission possible: NASA's Journey to Mars

NASA is trying to develop systems to send human beings to Mars by the 2030s for scientific discovery and human exploration.

Experts believe that Mars' resemblance to Earth can give us some useful clues about the origin and formation of our planet and also its future.

On the other hand, Mars had conditions suitable for life in its past. Future exploration could uncover evidence of life, answering one of the fundamental mysteries of the cosmos: Does life exist beyond Earth ?

The team of scientists at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama is working on every possible idea from concept to design, to develop a spacecraft that will land on Mars and support life in very cold conditions. But they say they are still at the very early stages of making the Mars mission a reality.

The scientists’ experiments include using simulated Martian rock and soil to advance 3D printing that could help astronauts build structures on Mars with materials on the planet. A fleet of robotic spacecraft and rovers are already on Mars, paving the way for future human explorers. The first expedition to Mars is planned for the 2030s.
