Israelis believe in Nasrallah’s remarks: Analyst

Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, the secretary general of the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah

Press TV has conducted an interview with Ibrahim Mousawi, a political analyst from Beirut, to discuss the Sunday speech of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, Secretary General of Hezbollah of Lebanon, on assassination of Samir Quntar, a martyred high-ranking member of Hezbollah.

The following is a rough transcription of the interview.

Press TV: It seems that it was a very direct speech and definitely centered on the Israelis basically saying to them that your end is coming and that they very much have to watch over their shoulders. Tell me your perspective about what you think the overall effect this type of speech has on the Israeli regime.

Mousawi: Well, needless to say that the Israelis believe and have a lot of credibility on what Sayyed Nasrallah says more than what they hear from their own leaders.

This is something that has been established long time ago, because Sayyed Nasrallah has always acquired this position on the Israeli minds and psychology.

They believe him and they utterly and outspokenly say that they believe him. And whenever he says something they should understand that is going to be into effect.

When he talks about the war against Israel, when he talks about the Israeli occupation, we need to have just like what Sayyed Nasrallah said the hope, and we need to have resolve and determination.

It is a multifaceted war. It’s not only psychological. It’s not only political. It’s not only media war. It’s on all levels. It’s a military war and it’s a kind of psychological warfare where Sayyed Nasrallah has a lot of credibility and has a lot of credibility to inflict direct psychological defeat to the Israelis.

I believe what Sayyed Nasrallah said would have immense reflection on the Israeli side, because they were waiting to hear what he’s going to say.

If you follow the Israeli media outlets through the week since the assassination of martyr Samir Quntar, you will understand very well that they have been following every word and everything that has been said by Sayyed Nasrallah even by Manar TV to say that they have made wrong calculations.

It seems that the future is going to tell them in a very eloquent way that they have really done a lot of damage by assassinating Quntar.

Press TV: We know the Secretary General of Hezbollah just had addressed last week, why do you think he chose to talk about this issue again so soon?

Mousawi: Sorry, about what issue exactly?

Press TV: Well, in dealing with first of all the martyrdom of Samir Quntar and overall the retaliation for the assassination of Samir Quntar

Mousawi: Well, this is very normal. Sayyed Nasrallah is expressing the right and the duty of the resistance to retaliate to the aggression that has been done by assassinating Quntar.

Some have been waiting and they would wanted to hear something else maybe. Sayyed Nasrallah has put it very clearly that it is in the hands of those who have the capabilities in order to retaliate and it’s a matter of time only.

When the retaliation will come, hopefully it will be a very eloquent one. Some response that would put the Israelis in the corner and make them understand that they cannot continue to carry assassinations without taking the proper and right punishment.
