The Syrian army forces have managed to inflict more losses on the foreign-backed militant groups operating inside the Arab country, killing more terrorists.

According to a Sunday report by the Syrian official news agency, SANA, the leader of the so-called Liwaa al-Nassr terror group, identified as Aqil Jumaa, and four of his fellow militants were killed in an army operation in an area in the northern countryside of the northwestern province of Latakia.

The Syrian air force also hit the hideouts of Daesh Takfiri terrorists in the countryside of the provinces of Homs and Aleppo.

The development comes after Syrian army soldiers stormed several militant hideouts in al-Borj al-Faransi area, al-Qazghadar Mountain and al-Azar Mountain in Latakia on December 11, eliminating a number of Takfiri terrorists and their vehicles.

A commander of the terrorist Ahrar al-Sham group was also killed following intense clashes with Syrian government troops in the Jisrin village in Eastern Ghouta region near the capital, Damascus.

Syrian forces have recently been making rapid advances against the Takfiri terrorists, who are committing heinous crimes against all ethnic and religious groups, in several parts of the crisis-hit country.

The advances of the Syrian government forces against Daesh and other terrorist groups have been expedited by the air cover provided by Russia, which began on September 30 at the request of the Damascus government.

The foreign-sponsored conflict in Syria, which flared in March 2011, has claimed the lives of more than 250,000 people and left over one million injured, according to the United Nations.
