US leads Saudi Wahhabist axis: Analyst

“Saudi Arabia is part of the American-led axis that is the dominant coalition in the international ruling class,” Preston says.

The United States has long led a Saudi Wahhabist axis which has given rise to a string of extremist groups waging war and terror in the Middle East region, says an American political commentator.

“Saudi Arabia is part of the American-led axis--what I call the Anglo-American Zionist Wahhabist axis--that is the dominant coalition in the international ruling class,” said Keith Preston, chief editor and director of AttacktheSystem.com, a website dedicated to encouraging revolt against domestic and foreign US policies.

He made the remarks in a phone interview with Press TV on Saturday, when asked to comment on legislation recently passed by the US House of Representatives to put a new visa restriction on Iranians.

The House overwhelmingly voted on Tuesday in favor of tougher travel restrictions for foreign citizens allowed to enter the United States without a visa. The measure would require visitors from the 38 “visa waiver” countries to obtain a visa to travel to the US if they have been to Syria, Iraq, Iran or Sudan in the past five years.

The move came in response to the Paris attacks on November 13 which claimed by Daesh Takfiri terrorists. The move also follows the December 2 killing of over a dozen people in San Bernardino, California, by a couple who reportedly harbored extremist ideology and supported Daesh.

Preston said that the San Bernindo couple, Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik “were adherents of wahhabism, which is a very extreme version of Saudi Islam, but it’s also the state religion of Saudi Arabia.”

He said that ISIL militants “are adherents of Wahhabism; as is al-Qaeda, as is the al-Nusra Front.”

The comments follow a report by the British daily newspaper, The Guardian, about the US House’s visa measure which wrongly targets Iranians who have never subscribed to such an ideology or engaged in similar acts of terror.

Preston also said, “This has nothing to do with Iran; it has nothing to do with Iraq, and has nothing to do with Sudan, and it has nothing to do with Syria. Those nations had nothing to do with the terrorist incident in San Bernardino.”

“All of the nations that are targeted by this legislation concerning the visa program are nations that in some way resist the American Empire. Now what is interesting is that excluded from this legislation are nations like Saudi Arabia which is where these individual terrorists that carried out this incident in San Bernardino actually originated from,” he added.

“Obviously, the United States is not going to deny immigration visas or include Saudi Arabia in this legislation, because Saudi Arabia is one of America’s two primary allies in the Middle East, along with Israel,” he said.

Preston concluded that the US is using the legislation “as a pretext for attacking nations that refused to be compliant states for Washington.”
