Iraq urges UNSC to demand Turkish troops pull out

  1. Iraq urges the UN Security Council to demand Turkey immediately and unconditionally withdraw Turkish troops from the Iraqi soil. In a letter to the council, Baghdad condemned the Turkish military incursion as a flagrant violation of international law. The request has been submitted to the body’s president.
  2. Police in Finland have arrested two Iraqi brothers over their alleged role in the massacre of Iraqi army soldiers in 2014. Officials believe the twins fatally shot 11 unarmed soldiers during the massacre of 17-hundred Iraqi troopers at the Speicher base by Daesh militants.
  3. U-K Defense Secretary Michael Fallon has accused Russia of bombing what it calls the moderate opposition groups in Syria rather than the Daesh terrorists. Meanwhile, Fallon’s US counterpart Ashton Carter says Washington targets the revenues of Daesh to cripple the terrorist group.

  4. Hannibal Gaddafi, the son of Libya's former dictator Muammar Gaddafi has been released after he was briefly held by an armed group in Lebanon. The group says it wants information about Lebanese Shia cleric Imam Moussa Sadr, who disappeared during a trip to the Libyan capital Tripoli in 19-78.

  5. The United Nations Refugee Agency has reported rampant war crimes including rape, torture, and murder by armed groups in the Central African Republic. The agency has recorded about 8-hundred cases of such violations over the past eight months alone.

  6. The U-N Security Council has condemned Burundi’s recent violence, in which at least 15 people were killed. U-N Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has also denounced the deadly attacks warning such assaults can worsen the already grave situation in the east African nation.

  7. A suspected arson attack has hit a mosque in Coachella, California amid a hike in hate crimes against Muslims in the United States. A probe was launched into the fire that broke out at the Islamic Society of Palm Springs at around noon. No casualties have been reported.
