US politicians ‘get their marching orders’ from Israel: Analyst

The United States has been the main supporter and enabler of Israel in its occupation of the Palestinian people, said Richard Forer.

Most of the turmoil that has afflicted the Middle East is the result of decades-old US and Israeli policies in the region and Israel’s influence over Washington, an American political commentator says.

The United States has been the main supporter and enabler of Israel in its occupation of the Palestinian people, said Richard Forer, author of "Breakthrough; Transforming Fear into Compassion."

“The United States wants Israel to maintain a military advantage over any other country in the Middle East,” Forer said in an interview with Press TV on Thursday.

On Thursday, Israel and the United States test-fired an advanced ballistic missile system that has received extensive funding and technical assistance from the US.

The upgraded “Arrow 3" ballistic missile system passed a full interception test on Thursday, Israel’s Ministry of Military Affairs said.

The US currently provides about $3 billion in annual military aid to Israel. The money is separate from the nearly $500 million in annual US funding for Israel’s missile system programs in recent years.

The US government is pressured to serve Israel’s interests due to the influence of the powerful Zionist lobby in the United States. The pro-Israel pressure groups actively work to steer US foreign policy in favor of Israel.

Numerous American officials and politicians “get their marching orders” from pro-Israel lobby groups like AIPAC, Forer stated.

Many of the US presidential candidates, in particular Hillary Clinton and Marco Rubio, receive large campaign funding from Jewish billionaires who have strong ties to the far-right wing in Israel, he noted.
