GOP candidate Donald Trump says Turkey appears to be on the side of the Daesh Takfiris for oil, echoing remarks by Russian President Vladimir Putin in the wake of the downing of a Russian jet, engaged in battles against the terrorist group.

In an interview with Sirius XM’s Breitbart News Daily on Tuesday, the GOP front runner said, “Turkey looks like they’re on the side of ISIL, more or less based on the oil.”

Putin said Monday that  Moscow had received "additional data" which confirm that Daesh oil "enters the territory of Turkey."

"The decision to shoot down the plane was dictated specifically by a desire to defend supplies," Putin said.

In response to Putin's assertion that Turkey is on Daesh side due to oil concerns, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan seriously denied the accusations, saying he would resign if it turned out to be true.

Russia and Turkey have been engaged in a tense standoff since Turkish fighter jets shot down a Russian warplane along the Syrian border last week, after Ankara accused the warplane of violating its airspace.

In the aftermath, the Russian government has imposed new sanctions on Turkey, and its officials have discouraged Russians from traveling to the country.

The Daesh Takfiri terrorists have been committing vicious crimes against all ethnic and religious communities in Iraq and Syria, including Shias, Sunnis, Kurds, Christians in the areas under their control.
