People flocking to Karbala en masse to commemorate Arba'een

Millions of Shia Muslims from across the globe are converging on the Iraqi city of Karbala to mark the Arba’een rituals. The occasion marks the 40th day after the martyrdom anniversary of the third Shia Imam, Imam Hussein. Baghdad has tightened security to protect the pilgrims against terrorist attacks ahead of the mourning rituals around Imam Hussein’s shrine on Thursday.
