Beirut exchanges 13 Nusra Front militants for 16 Lebanese soldiers, policemen

The Lebanese military and militants from the al-Qaeda affiliated terrorist group Nusra Front have exchanged prisoners.

The prisoner swap took place near Arsal in Lebanon's Bekaa province under tight security. The army exchanged 13 Nusra Front militants for 16 soldiers and policemen. One of the exchanged prisoners is the former wife of Daesh chief, Ibrahim al-Samarrai, also known as Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. Lebanese officials have already received the body of a Lebanese soldier killed by Nusra Front militants. The terrorist group has been fighting against the Syrian government in the past few years. Back in August 2014, some of them penetrated the Lebanese border with Syria and briefly captured the town of Arsal. The terrorists were later forced to retreat from the eastern town, but took dozens of Lebanese army and police officers hostage before withdrawal. They executed some of them.
