Kerry: US won't recognize Israeli settlement construction in West Bank

The US says it will not agree to recognize Israel’s settlement construction in the West Bank in return for a series of steps by Tel Aviv for Palestinians in the occupied region.
The State Department says the "Big No" was said by Secretary of State John Kerry to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during their Tuesday meeting in Jerusalem al-Quds. Netanyahu said Israel would not take any of the steps demanded by the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank, until a decline in violence. The steps were proposed by the Israeli premier two weeks ago during his US visit. They included construction for Palestinians in Area C of the West Bank. Tensions are running high in the occupied territories, amid mounting Israeli aggression and Palestinians’ attacks on Israelis in response to the aggression. Israel’s settlements activities are illegal under international law.
