Argentina’s president-elect vows to exclude Venezuela from regional association

Argentina’s president-elect Mauricio Macri has promised to suspend Venezuela from the regional free trade association, Mercosur, over alleged rights abuses. The opposition in Venezuela has welcomed the decision. Authorities there, however, have accused Buenos Aires of siding with the US in what they see as imperialist goals.
