South Korea accepts North’s offer high-level talks

South Korea has accepted the North’s proposal to hold high-level talks aimed at easing tensions between the two sides.

North Korean media say Pyongyang has sent Seoul a notice proposing initial talks to be held on November 26 at the border truce village of Panmunjom. A South Korean official said that Seoul sent two similar offers to Pyongyang in September and October, but no response was received from the North’s side. The new talks will be the first meeting since the two sides agreed to reduce tensions in August.
