Daesh ‘pipeline on wheels’ destroyed by Russian jets + Video
The Russian Air Force has destroyed a convoy of 500 oil trucks that Daesh Takfiri terrorists were using to transport oil from Syria to Iraq.
“In recent years, Daesh and other extremist groups have organized the operations of the so-called ‘pipeline on wheels’ on the territories they control,” RT quoted Russian General Staff spokesman Colonel General Andrey Kartapolov as saying on Wednesday.
He noted that the Takfiris have transported hundreds of thousands of tons of fuel via such convoys to their facilities in Iraq for processing, and that these illegal runs are one of their main sources of income.
Kartapolov stressed that the destruction of the convoy “greatly reduced illegal oil export capabilities of the militants and, accordingly, their income from oil smuggling.”
He added that the Russian military has started developing proposals for joint military action with the French Navy based on an order by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“This joint work will begin after the arrival of aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle to the Syrian shores,” he said.
The French aircraft carrier left France earlier in the day to join the battle against the Daesh.
On Tuesday, Russia’s Defense Ministry announced that the country’s fleet of strategic bombers has begun striking Daesh targets in Syria.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu noted that Russia’s Tu-95, Tu-22, and Tu-160 strategic bombers have also entered the operations in Syria.
Russia launched its air campaign against the Takfiris in the Arab country on September 30 upon a request from the Syrian government.
