Israeli forces shut down all roads leading to Palestinian occupied city of al-Khalil

The Israeli army has closed all roads south and north of the occupied West Bank city of al-Khalil (Hebron) as part of an ongoing crackdown on Palestinians, Press TV reports.

It was reported on Sunday that Israeli forces also locked down areas adjacent to illegal settlements around and inside the city, denying local Palestinian residents free access.

“Israeli is now dealing with al-Khalil as it has dealt with al-Quds when it divided the city through cantons and ghettos. The Israeli army has sealed off entrances leading to al-Khalil and is even imposing sanctions on its people in an attempt to suppress the current popular uprising while strengthening the settlers and their presence in the city,” said Wasel Abu Yousef, an executive committee member with Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).

Israeli forces arrested over two dozen Palestinians from late on Saturday to the early hours of Sunday in al-Khalil.

One of the arrests was linked to the fatal shooting of two Israelis  last week

Tensions in the occupied Palestinian territories have dramatically escalated in recent weeks due to the Israeli regime’s imposition of restrictions on the entry of Palestinian worshipers to the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East al-Quds.

Over 80 Palestinians have been killed in the recent escalation of violence since the start of October.
