Obama’s failed policies led to growth of Daesh: Senator McCain

US Senator John McCain has blamed President Barack Obama’s “failed policies” and lack of leadership for the rise of the Daesh (ISIL) terrorist group in the Middle East and the West.

“It’s because of the president of the United States’ failed policies, leading from behind, which has led to this chaos and renewed influence and growth of ISIS,” McCain said in a radio interview that was aired Sunday, using another acronym for the terrorist group.

In his interview, conducted before the terrorist attacks in Paris that killed 129 people, the Republican senator from Arizona predicted that the Daesh Takfiri group would take advantage of the current migrant crisis in Europe to send its members to the West.

“I am sure that [Abu Bakr] Baghdadi, the leader of ISIS, has already told some of these young men, go into the refugee flow and call us when you get to Berlin, New York, Paris, wherever it is,” he said.

At least 129 people were killed and over 350 others were injured in the French capital on Friday night, in the deadliest attacks to hit the country since the Second World War.

French police claims that a migrant passport was found on the body of one of the attackers responsible for the massacre, identifying him as a Syrian national.

Speaking about Washington’s response to the growing concerns over the refugee crisis, McCain warned that the US needs to be “very, very careful” about whom it admits to the country.

“Our hearts go out to them, but we can’t endanger the security of the United States of America,” he added.

Obama condemned the attacks shortly after they took place, describing them as “an attack on all of humanity and the universal values that we share."

He pledged to step up Washington’s efforts in fighting terrorism and “to go after any terrorist networks that go after our people."

This is while only a few hours prior to the attacks, the American president claimed that the United States had “contained” Daesh, boasting about alleged progress the US-led coalition is making against the terror group.
