Egypt is facing strong criticism over the detention of prominent journalist and human rights advocate Hossam Bahgat. Several Egyptian and international rights bodies have condemned Bahgat’s detention as a serious attack on press freedom in the Arab state. Bahgat was arrested a few days ago on charges of distributing false information.
