Over 500 Palestinians held in Israeli jails as administrative detainees

The number of Palestinian prisoners held as administrative detainees in Israeli jails has exceeded 500. The detention policy, that allows Israel to keep Palestinians behind bars without charge or trial, is deemed illegal under international law. The number of Palestinians arrested in the recent outbreak of violence in the occupied territories has exceeded 1500, bringing to over 7,000 the number of Palestinians held in Israeli jails.
