‘Saudi warship, boat attacked in Yemen coast’
Yemeni military sources say forces with the country’s army and Popular Committees have taken a Saudi warship and a Saudi boat under retaliatory rocket attacks in the southwestern Yemen coastline.
One source said the forces had launched rocket strikes against the warship in the waters of the Ta’izz Province’s coastal city of Mokha on Sunday.
Another said a rocket shot by the forces had hit the boat in the same waters, prompting the Saudis to try to save the vessel but in vain.
The forces stage the attacks in return for Saudi Arabia’s military strikes against the impoverished country, which started in March 26 and are supposedly meant to undermine Yemen’s Houthi Ansarullah movement and bring fugitive former Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a Riyadh ally, back to power.
The Saudi offensives have so far killed over 7,000 people and displaced more than one million others.
Yemen’s official Saba Net news agency, meanwhile, reported that the Yemeni forces had, following clashes with Saudi Arabia’s mercenaries and Hadi’s supporters, managed to make advances in one of Ta’izz’s districts and take control of some of their military positions.
The forces also managed to take control of a city in Dhale Province, also located in southwestern Yemen, killing and injuring tens of the mercenaries and Hadi allies in the process, and fully clear the province’s Juban district.
