Yemeni forces have carried out a new round of retaliatory attacks on the positions of the Saudi military on the border region.

A Wednesday report by al-Mayadin TV said the allied Yemeni forces struck the Saudi positions in al-Qaran district of the southern Saudi province of Jizan.

Fatalities were also reported on the part of the Saudi forces. The strike also destroyed Saudi military equipment.

Sources in Yemen also confirmed that fighters supporting Yemen’s Houthi Ansarullah movement attacked several key Saudi military positions south of the kingdom, including in the provinces of Aseer and Najran.

Another report by Yemen’s al-Ittihad Press said fighters of Yemen’s Houthi Ansarullah movement killed two senior members of Yemen’s Hamdan tribe, known for their support for the fugitive former president of Yemen, Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi.

The two tribal leaders, identified as Hamdi Bin Aliyah and Ali Bin Saleh al-Hoda, were targeted in central Yemen near the provinces of Ma’rib and Jawf.

Hadi fled Yemen earlier in 2015 after Ansarullah took control of the capital, Sana’a. Based in the Saudi capital of Riyadh, Hadi has sought for a return to power through the Saudi military campaign against Yemen, which has reportedly claimed the lives of over 7,000 people since March 26.

Meanwhile, reports on Wednesday showed that Ansarullah fighters and the allied Yemeni army units seized control of the Hesn ul-Matrab military camp, a highly strategic site in the southern province of Shabwah, which was under the control of supporters of Hadi.
