Daesh video claims killing of 2 Turkey-based Syrian activists
The Daesh Takfiri terrorist group has posted a new video, claiming responsibility for the recent killing of two Syrian anti-Daesh activists in Turkey.
The bodies of 20-year-old activist Ibrahim Abdulqader and Fares Hamadi, also in his 20s, were found in an apartment in the city of Sanliurfa, nearly 60 kilometers from the Turkish border with Syria on October 30.
Abdulqader was a founding member of the anti-Daesh activist group called "Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently (RBSS),” which documents atrocities committed by the Daesh in the city of Raqqa in northeastern Syria. The city is heavily controlled by the Daesh militants.
In the gruesome footage posted on Monday, which shows Hamadi's body with his throat cut in a dark room, the militant group threatened that it will reach "apostates” wherever they are.
The video, however, does not show the body of Abdulqader and it is not clear whether it was shot in Sanliurfa.
According to the RBSS, the incident in Turkey was the first such attack on its members in the Turkish territory, where Daesh reportedly maintains presence.
Several members of the activist group had been murdered inside Syria and around Raqqa in the past; but the October 30 killings were the first against RBSS members outside the country.
A Raqqa native, Abdulqader fled his hometown to Turkey while studying for his high school diploma in late 2013, after he was arrested and tortured by Daesh forces.
Formed in 2014, the RBSS runs a network of secret correspondents that operate in and around the city of Raqqa and provide accounts of Daesh crimes in the area.
Since the beginning of the foreign-backed militancy in Syria in March 2011, an assortment of armed terrorist groups, including Daesh, have been fighting in the country to topple the government in Damascus.
Turkey has been repeatedly accused of being one of the main supporters of the militant groups operating in Syria, with reports saying that Ankara actively trains and arms the Takfiri militants there and facilitates their safe passage into the Arab country.
