US, Turkey playing double game in Syria: Analyst

Press TV has conducted an interview with E. Michael Jones, an editor of Culture Wars Online Magazine, in Tehran, and Shahid Qureshi, a writer and analyst from The London Post, in London, to discuss Turkey’s real motive behind its military operation against the Takfiri Daesh terrorists on Turkish soil.

Jones says that both the United States and Turkey are “playing a double game” in Syria, arguing that their real aim is to topple the Syrian government, not to fight the Daesh terrorist group in that country.

He says the United States and its allies – namely Saudi Arabia and Israel – created Deash, a “Frankenstein monster,” which they cannot deal with, and “they have lost the initiative in Syria.”

The analyst says that Turkey has got involved in “covert warfare.”

“What you are seeing here is the problems associated with covert warfare. In the beginning, you get involved with covert warfare… and it looks like the perfect solution to the problem; but as you go along, the situation gets so confused that nobody knows who is doing what to whom and you do not who is on what side,” he says.

Jones further says that, as a member of NATO and a vassal state of the United States, Turkey “cannot pursue a consistent foreign policy” and is trying to match its desires with those of the US.

Qureshi, for his part, believes that the United States and its allies have “conned” Turkey into joining the coalition against Daesh, adding that the only objective of Washington is to weaken the Muslim states in the Middle East.
