Ukraine’s government is facing a major test of its performance. Voters are choosing nearly seventeen-thousand local mayors and deputies, as well as eleven-thousand local councils. The two front runners are the ruling coalition of President Petro Poroshenko and the Batkivshyna party led by former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko. The militia-held eastern regions of Donetsk and Luhansk won't take part in the polls.
