Iranian film awarded at Buffalo International Film Festival

Iranian filmmaker Abbas Rafei’s ‘Oblivion Season’ has won the top award of Buffalo International Film Festival in the US.

Rafei’s socioal drama beat nearly 40 films from different countries and received the Best Feature Award of the annual event.

‘Oblivion Season’ narrates the story of a woman who starts a new life by marrying the man she loves, but leaving the shadow of her past proves to be more difficult than she imagined.

The 90-minute film has been screened in numerous international festivals and garnered awards at the 2015 Brasov International Film Festival in Romania, the Rahway International Film Festival in New Jersey, US, and the 39th Montreal World Film Festival.

The Buffalo International Film Festival was held from October 15 to 18 in Buffalo, New York, screening 24 feature-length and 38 short films from around the globe.

The event also held the first all-women filmmaker panel in its history, hosting filmmakers and active members of the film industry from the US and several other countries.
