Palestinian mourners have held a funeral ceremony for a teenager who was shot dead during clashes with Israeli troops in the occupied West Bank on Friday.

On Saturday, Palestinians took to the streets of the West Bank village of Beit Furik near the city of Nablus to take part in the funeral of the 19-year-old, Ihab Hanani.

Another funeral ceremony was held in the West Bank city of al-Khali (Hebron) for a Palestinian man who was killed by Israeli forces on Friday during clashes in the city.

The ceremonies come as on Saturday Israeli forces killed three Palestinians after accusing them of committing violence amid growing Israeli attacks in the occupied Palestinian territories and the besieged Gaza over the past weeks.

In the first incident, Israeli police shot dead a 16-year-old Palestinian walking through a neighborhood around East al-Quds (Jerusalem), alleging that the teenager had drawn a knife and tried to stab the officers who stopped him for questioning.

A second shooting took place near an illegal Israeli settlement in al-Khalil. The Israeli military said a Palestinian attempted to stab an Israeli settler. Witnesses have said, however, that the Palestinian was attacked by the settler first and sought to act in self-defense.

Elsewhere in the city, Israeli soldiers shot dead a Palestinian young girl, who had allegedly stabbed an Israeli soldier.

At least 40 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces in the last two weeks. Seven Israelis are also said to have died in the same period.

The latest wave of deadly tensions between Israeli troopers and Palestinians in the occupied territories was triggered by the Tel Aviv regime’s imposition in August of restrictions on the entry of Palestinian worshipers into the al-Aqsa Mosque in East al-Quds.

Palestinians are also angry at increasing violence by illegal Israeli settlers, who frequently storm al-Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest site in Islam. They say the Israeli regime seeks to change the status quo of the compound.
