US haphazard in fighting Daesh in Syria: Analyst

Press TV has conducted an interview with Wayne Madsen, an investigative journalist in Tampa, and Lawrence Korb, former US assistant Secretary of Defense in Washington, to discuss Russia’s military campaign against terrorists in Syria.

Madsen states that Russia has been serious about fighting the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group in Syria whereas the US has been very “haphazard” in going after these terrorists.

He also maintains "the United States policy in the Syrian imbroglio has been ridiculous”, adding that if Washington was serious in its fight against Daesh, “it would join the Russian campaign.”

Elsewhere in his remarks, Madsen says the US has allowed Syria to become “an open market for foreign mercenaries”, arguing that it has got to stop helping these individuals because supporting them is going to be “a no-win situation”.

The analyst goes on to say that until Syria gets rid of these foreign mercenaries, there is not going to be any sort of "diplomatic solution" to the conflict.

Korb, for his part, believes the Russians are not achieving any gains against Daesh and they are using the fight against this terrorist group as a cover to prop up Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
