Press TV has conducted an interview with E. Michael Jones, editor of the Culture Wars Online Magazine from Indiana, to get his take on the role of the Israeli regime in Saudi aggression against Yemen and international silence in this respect.

The following is a rough transcription of the interview.

Press TV: We already know that Saudi Arabia is looking apparently, as they say, to restore power to Hadi. But what is Israel pursuing in all of this? What interest is it following?

Jones: The main problem that Israel has is the increasing influence of Iran throughout the whole region of the Middle East. We saw this with their absolute diehard attempt in America to prevent the passage of the nuclear deal. And now the situation has become even worse for Israel and Saudi Arabia with the move that the Russians have made, attacking these very people the same Takfiri that they’re talking about in Aden. So, I think the situation is changing rapidly and it may not show itself immediately in Yemen, but I think it will have to, because the main source of their troops there are up in Syria and they’ve got to be sent down there and now they’re going to be pinned down out there. So, it may have...a good effect for the al-Houthi in Yemen.

Press TV: So, given all the advances the Ansarullah fighters and the allied army units have made against Saudi Arabia, and all the casualties that they have inflicted on the Saudis and their so-called coalition, what do you think is at stake for Saudi Arabia?

Jones: I think the Saudis are fighting for their life right now, because they’ve been consisting in using proxy warriors ever since the funding of Mujahedin in Afghanistan. And now they’re starting to be exposed as the suppliers of these and their connection with Israel starting to be exposed now that the Russians have become active in Syria. And so, I think they’re losing credibility. And so, in order to shore up their credibility, they have to increase the attacks, and the last apparently killed a number of people in a wedding. They’re losing credibility. The world is changing. The Saudis and the Israelis haven’t caught on that it’s changing significantly. And this is the way they’re trying to preserve the status quo.

Press TV: What do you think about the silence of the international community when it comes to atrocities against civilians?

Jones: The indignation has always been selective from the so-called international community. I mean look at the way that they treat the Palestinians and atrocities in Palestine, it has never quite given the same type of treatment as areas they’re favoring. The simple fact is that the so-called international community uses atrocities as an excuse to attack people they don’t like. They did this in Bosnia, for that intervention in 1999, they did the same thing in Libya, and so Yemen does not fit into their geopolitical plan, so they’re not going to mention it.

Press TV: So, where do you think the situation is headed to?

Jones: I think that once the Russians, Hezbollah and the Iranians solidify the situation in Syria that’s going to be a significant turning of the tide and at that point the pressure on Houthis is going to be removed, because they simply won’t have a terrible position anymore. So, I think it is ... the situation in Yemen is going to be resolved in Syria. I think that’s going to be happened.
