Russian attacks on Daesh in Syria effective: Pundit

Press TV has conducted an interview with Alexander Nekrassov, a former Kremlin adviser from London, and independent scholar Peter Sinnott from New York, to take a closer look at the Russian military mission in Syria.

Nekrassov says the United States’ refusal to cooperate with Russia in the war against Daesh terrorist group in Syria is “quite surprising,” despite the initial announcement from Washington that the Americans want to share information to avoid air collisions.

He also notes that the US authorities are pursuing a warmongering policy when they expect human casualties on the side of Russian troops in Syria, adding that the NATO officials are also threatening Moscow by saying that the Western military alliance is prepared to defend Turkey against Russia.

The former Kremlin advisor argues that the NATO is expected to cooperate with Moscow, because a few days of Russia’s attacks against the Daesh have been more effective than the year-long US-led campaign in Syria. He adds that the so-called US-led war against Daesh has made the Takfiri terrorists stronger.

The Western powers’ policies under the banner of removing the so-called dictatorships and establishing democracy in Iraq and Libya have resulted in destructive ramifications for both nations, he says, arguing that when a government and its military forces are vanished, terrorist groups find the opportunity to blossom.

Sinnott, for his part, thinks the lack of coherence in the US and European policy with respect to the Syrian crisis provides Russia with the opportunity to be more successful in the war-torn Arab country.
