  1. Russia has intensified its military campaign against terrorist groups operating inside Syria. Syrian media say Russian fighter jets have hit ISIL targets in and around the city of Palmyra as well as in Aleppo and Idlib provinces. The strikes have destroyed several vehicles, weapons depots and other ISIL targets.
  2. NATO’s chief Jens Stoltenberg rejects Russia’s statement that its warplanes’ overflight of the Turkish soil was accidental. Moscow admits that its aircraft entered Turkey’s airspace Saturday due to bad weather. But it has not yet commented on an alleged second violation of Turkey’s airspace. Ankara has summoned Russia’s envoy over the issue.
  3. Iran has condemned Israel over its ongoing deadly crackdown on Palestinians in the occupied West Bank. Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham has called Israel’s harsh measures against Palestinians inhumane. Afkham also warned Tel Aviv of grave consequences if it continues desecrating the al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem al-Quds.
  4. Israeli forces attack Palestinian demonstrators protesting against Tel Aviv’s recent aggression in the occupied West Bank. The clashes erupted after Israeli forces stormed several houses in the city, arresting a number of Palestinians. Palestinian health officials say at least five people have been wounded.
  5. A report says the Saudi air campaign against Yemen has left at least 12-hundred civilians dead in Sa’ada province alone. The report also says 25-hundred Yemenis, mostly women and children have been injured in Sa’ada. Saudi aircraft have been bombing the province almost on a daily basis since March.

  6. A hotel used by former Yemeni government officials has come under a rocket attack in Aden. Khaled Bahah, the prime minister in Yemen’s former cabinet was at the hotel when the attack took place. At least 20 coalition soldiers including Emirati forces reportedly died in the rocket attack. But Bahah escaped it unharmed.

  7. A woman in California is suing police for beating her back in 2013. Police say a cop clashed with Cindy Hahn because she had allegedly refused to fasten her seatbelt. Hahn says she was attacked because she had asked the policeman and his colleague to do something about a nearby car whose alarm had gone off.

  8. The UN says the number of displaced people across the world has crossed 60 million and keeps rising. The UN High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres said Muslims make up more than two-thirds of refugees worldwide. He stressed the importance of building a positive relationship between the Western and Muslim worlds.
