Yemeni women have held a rally in the capital, Sana’a, to condemn the ongoing Saudi military aggression against their country, Press TV reports.
On Sunday, a group of Yemeni women gathered in front of the United Nations office in Sana’a, calling on the international body to take serious action to put an end to the Saudi aggression.
The demonstrators chanted slogans and carried banners displaying atrocities committed by the Saudi regime during its relentless aerial and ground attacks against their country.
They also slammed the recent Saudi attack on a wedding ceremony in Yemen's southwestern province of Ta’izz, during which over 130 civilians, including women and children, lost their lives.
“We have come to call on the United Nations to take serious action as Yemenis are facing a genocidal war,” a Yemeni protester told Press TV.
The international community should break its silence on heinous Saudi crime, she said.
Yemen has been under military strikes on a daily basis since Saudi forces launched their military aggression against their southern neighbor on March 26, in a bid to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, an ally of Riyadh.
About 6,400 people have reportedly lost their lives in the Saudi airstrikes, and a total of nearly 14,000 people have been injured since March. According to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), 505 children are among the fatalities.
