Russia coalition neutralizing US in Syria: Pundit

“The United States is going to be neutralized and kept out of the entire air space” in Syria, thanks to the Russian coalition, Scott Bennett said.

The new coalition of Syria, Russia, Iran and China formed against the Daesh Takfiri terrorists is neutralizing the United States in Syria, says an analyst.

The coalition that Russian President Vladimir Putin “is putting together with Russia, with Syria, with Iran and with China …is successfully isolating the ISIS (Daesh) barbarians that seem to be waging war against [President] Bashar al-Assad and trying to spread up into Europe,” Scott Bennett told Press TV on Sunday.

“Essentially, the United States is going to be neutralized and kept out of the entire [Syrian] air space,” the former US Army psychologist warfare officer added.

Russia has been beefing up its military presence in Syria, deploying warplanes, tanks and personnel to an airfield in the western port city of Latakia.

Russia launched its air campaign against Daesh terrorists in Syria on Wednesday. The airstrikes began hours after a warning that the US must take its warplanes out of Syria.

Bennett made the remarks when asked about a report which shows the US has wasted billions of dollars on foreign military training.

The New York Times reported Saturday that the fact that thousands of American-trained security forces in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia have collapsed, stalled or defected, is indicative of the ineffectiveness of US’ investment in military training programs.

The American military has, for decades, trained soldiers in Iraq, Afghanistan, northwest Africa, Yemen and Somalia. The US has spent about $65 billion in Afghanistan, $25 in Iraq, nearly $1 billion in Somalia and $600 million in northwest Africa training military and police forces, the report said, noting that a $500 program to train and equip militants in Syria had all failed.

“With regards to the United States’ investment in training military and police forces around the globe, of course that’s been a dismal failure” and Washington has “lost a tremendous amount of money, (and) a tremendous amount of time,” Bennett said.

The United States “has undermined its own national security, because you have now trained a lot of militants who are very skilled in the use of weaponry but they have a sense of betrayal and isolation against the United States because there is no family connection, there is no friendship, there is no room for natural intimacy,” he explained.

He also said that the wars the US has waged in some Muslim countries resulted in a situation where the entire generation of Muslims have “been stricken with what we call war fatigue.”

“War fatigue is the exhaustion of the mind and the body and the political will to continue on a fight and a conflict nature and the result of this war fatigue is mass exodus of people leaving the theaters of the Middle East and going into Europe,” he added.
