UN rights chief: Airstrikes on a hospital in Afghanistan may amount to war crime

The UN rights chief says the US airstrikes on a hospital in Afghanistan’s Kunduz province were possibly criminal. The hospital belongs to medical charity Doctors Without Borders.
Zeid Ra'ad al-Hussein called the deadly attacks inexcusable and tragic. He added that airstrikes on a hospital may amount to war crime if proved that they were carried out deliberately. Hussein also called for a full and transparent investigation into the deadly US air attacks. Ahead of the announcement, Doctors Without Borders, M-S-F said the death toll from the aerial bombardment of the medical charity had risen to 16 and 37 others were injured. MSF spokeswoman Kate Stegeman said nine staff members of the medical charity and three children were among the victims. The US airstrikes reportedly continued for more than 30 minutes.
