US policy in Mideast resulted in ISIL creation, Syrian genocide: Analyst

President Barack Obama’s comments on Friday warning Russia to stop its airstrikes against ISIL targets in Syria were “disingenuous,” said Rodney Martin.

US President Barack Obama’s policy in the Middle East has been a “complete disaster” because it has resulted in the creation of the Daesh (ISIL) terrorist network and the genocide of Syrians, an American activist and radio host in California says.

Obama’s comments at the White House on Friday warning Russia to stop its airstrikes against ISIL targets in Syria was misleading and disingenuous, said Rodney Martin, a former US congressional staffer.

“His statement regarding [Russian] President Putin’s deployment in Syria being a recipe for a disaster is intellectually dishonest and meaningless twaddle,” Martin told Press TV on Tuesday.

“The fact is the United States’ policy is a disaster, it represents a disaster when you look at its creation of ISIL and the resulting ethnic cleansing and genocide,” he noted.

Martin said Obama’s condemnation of Moscow over its military buildup in Syria underscores his anger towards Putin’s new geopolitical alignment with Iran and Syria in the fight against Daesh Takfiri terrorists.

The US president’s remarks also expose his “desperation” and attempt to appeal to neoconservative Zionists who seek to destabilize Muslim nations, the analyst said.

Russia has been beefing up its military presence in Syria, deploying warplanes, tanks and personnel to an airfield in the western port city of Latakia.

On Wednesday, Russia launched coordinated airstrikes on militant positions in Syria. The move came shortly after members of the Russian upper house of parliament authorized the operations in the country.

Moscow’s commitment to the Syrian government runs counter to current US policy, which calls for the ouster of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
