Amateur astronomy in Iran

There is significant public interest in astronomy in Iran. The amateur astronomy community is growing; and today, there are more than 100 astronomy clubs around the country. In this feature, we will take a trip with a group of amateur astronomers who are going stargazing in the deserts of Iran as the stars of autumn begin to push those of summer out of the way.

In life, new experiences can sometimes be scary. Yet, when you ease your way in, it is a much smoother translation. Starting school can be fun and exciting yet scary at times. In Iran, we have the Celebration of Blossoms. It is a celebration for first graders. It starts a day early and gets the youngsters acclimated with school and all its activities.

The Jameh Mosque of Kerman is a grand congregational mosque located in the southeast of Iran. The ancient mosque was built by Amir Mobarezeddin Mohammad Mozaffari in the 14th century.  It has a four-iwan plan. It comprises a rectangular court surrounded by a one-story arcade with four iwans placed at the center of each side.
