US juggernaut seeking dominance in Western Pacific

Expansion of the United States military presence in the Western Pacific Ocean originates from Washington’s thirst for “full-spectrum dominance,” which is indicative of the “panic” the country is experiencing, says a Boston-based political commentator.

US Pacific Fleet Commander Admiral Scott Swift has recently been calling for Third Fleet to cooperate more with the Japan-based Seventh Fleet for more engagement on areas of the West Pacific, where there is the "greatest instability."

In two recent speeches, Swift (pictured above) has promoted the idea, saying it is separate from President Barack Obama’s policy of pivot to Asia.

This is part of the “constant military pressure” by the US “empire,” Daniel Patrick Welch told Press TV in an interview Sunday.

“This is part and parcel of that pivot,” he added. “And the goal is also identical to neocon establishment of what they call full-spectrum dominance, which is just to constantly have pressure; the pressure of death and of military intervention on all levels, in all theaters, at all time.”

Juggernaut can’t help but continue

The commentator further expressed regret over the lack of an “end in sight” to the American policy. “US war machine keeps on trucking” regardless of the party that is going to control the White house after the 2016 presidential race.

“All of domestic squabbling about which party should be in control is an obvious farce because there is nothing; there is no choice,” Welch noted.

“Whichever wing of the war party is in power, this is what you are going to get.”

Although Obama is the first African American president and one of “hope and change,” the policy has continued and even expanded by his administration, he said, adding, “it’s sad to see the juggernaut can’t help but continue.”

The situation, the outspoken critic of the US foreign policy added, is indicative of “a sort of panic” in the face of Sino-Russian ties and an emerging global tendency to “unite and fight back” against imperial aggression.
