1. Saudi warplanes have targeted a government hospital in the Yemeni province of Sa’ada, killing eight people. Earlier, Ryiadh launched several attacks on the old dam and residential areas of Ma’rib province. More than 5,100 Yemenis have been killed in the Saudi onslaught since March 26.

2. Yemeni media say Ansarullah fighters and allied forces have destroyed two Saudi helicopters and three missile platforms in Yemen’s Ma’rib province. Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirate has announced that over 20 of its soldiers fighting in Yemen have been killed in the same province.

3. Russian President Vladimir Putin has called on the international community to unite against terrorism and extremism. Speaking on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum in Russia, Putin said he has discussed the issue with the leaders of Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and the United States.

4. Hundreds of asylum seekers refuse to leave a train near the Hungarian capital Budapest amid a tense standoff with police for a second day. The refugees say they don’t want to stay in Hungary and insist they should be taken to Germany. Hungary has been criticized for its policies regarding the asylum seekers.

5. The UN High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres calls on the European Union to accept up to two hundred thousand asylum seekers. Guterres says each EU member must receive a quota of the refugees. Thousands of refugees have made their way to Europe from the Middle East over the past months.

6. Bahrain’s main opposition bloc al-Wefaq has demanded the release of student prisoners. Al-Wefaq called on authorities to free some 300 students ahead of the first day of school next week. It also says says most of the students have been imprisoned on political charges and cases related to the freedom of expression.

7. Iran’s Parliament speaker Ali Larijani says Tehran will not abide by its commitments under the Vienna nuclear conclusion with the P5+1 countries if the US fails to live up to its obligations. He added that Iranian lawmakers are studying the agreed text will announce their opinion within next weeks.

8. Most Asian stocks have plunged on the final trading day of the week amid investor’s anticipation of US jobs report for August. The heaviest fall happened in the Tokyo stock market where the shares dropped more than three percent. Experts say the US upcoming jobs report could allay fears over global growth.
