SAN FRANCISCO, CA - AUGUST 31: A customer picks up his lunch from an automated cubbie at eatsa, a fully automated fast food restaurant on August 31, 2015 in San Francisco, California. eatsa, an automated fast food restaurant that has no servers, wait staff and a virtual cashier that offers fresh quinoa bowls opened in San Francisco

Hundreds of people have queued in front of a trendy restaurant in the US city of San Francisco, which happens to be the area’s first automated eatery.

The venue doesn’t even have a worker in sight. It provides a dining experience like no other, replacing waiters and cashiers with iPads and automatic self service cubicles. The new age restaurant operates with tablets, where a customer can swipe their credit card and mix and match the ingredients of meals. After a few minutes, the name of the client is displayed on a transparent LED window that opens after tapping on it twice, so the customer can remove the food. Dishes are prepared in the kitchen at the back of the restaurant.
