34th Senate vote in favor of JCPOA gives Obama power to veto rejection by Republicans

With the backing of the last Senator needed by the White House, President Barack Obama is now sure that the conclusion of the nuclear talks with Iran will be kept alive in Congress.
Barbara Mikulski of Maryland was the 34th senator who threw her weight behind the achievements of the Vienna talks.
Mikulski claimed the JCPOA is the best way to curb Iran’s pathway to nuclear weapons. In this way, Obama can use his power to veto a possible Republican-led rejection of the nuclear conclusion in Congress. The US President needs 41 votes in favor of the JCPOA to block a disapproval resolution at Congress. The US Congress is to vote on a resolution disapproving the JCPOA by September 17.
