Obama, AIPAC struggle over Iran N-agreement

US President Barack Obama

US President Barack Obama has accused an Israeli lobby of spending millions of dollars to spread false claims about the agreement over the Iranian nuclear program, vowing to foil such attempts.

Obama has said he would oppose their efforts to sink the agreement with Iran, attacking the opponents as “lobbyists.” Although Obama did not mention AIPAC by name, his remarks reflected a new low in relations between the most potent pro-Israel lobbying group in Washington and an American president.

Meanwhile, Obama is actively rallying Democratic support to protect the nuclear agreement ahead of a September vote on it in the Republican-led Congress. At the very same time, AIPAC is spending $40 million on television adverts in 35 states urging legislators – including Democrats - to reject the accord. Why is Israel doing this? Do Israeli lobby groups pose any danger to the US?

These and many other questions are the ones we are going to cover in this episode of A Simple Question.
