  1. Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani says Tehran will not accept any restrictions or limitations on its defense capabilities. Rouhani said the U-N Security Council resolution approving the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on Iran’s nuclear program has only put temporary limits on the country’s import and export of weapons.
  2. The U-N has warned that a fresh wave of refugees is expected to set out for Southeast Asia when the monsoon season ends in about a month. The Spokeswoman for the U-N High Commissioner for Refugees, Melissa Fleming, says most of the refugees are expected to be Rohingya Muslims from Myanmar and Bangladesh.
  3. An aircraft belonging to Nigerian air forces has crashed into a residential area, killing all four crew and three passengers. The plane was heading to the country’s capital Abuja when it crashed in Kaduna state. The army says bodies of the victims have been recovered.
  4. The Pakistani army says over a dozen militants have been killed in airstrikes on the country’s northwestern tribal region. Military jets targeted militant hideouts in Shawal valley of the lawless North Waziristan, close to the border with Afghanistan.
  5. At least 12 people have been killed in a spate of bombings and gun attacks across Iraq. A bomb blast near the Jordanian border claimed the lives of at least five police officers. Five people were also killed in bomb attacks in Baghdad. Unknown assailants shot dead two civilians there.

  6. A bomb blast in the Syrian city of Homs has claimed the lives of four people and left nearly 20 others injured. It was caused by an explosives-laden car that went off in al-Zahra neighborhood. The explosion has been blamed on terrorist groups operating in Syria.

  7. Tens of thousands of Malaysians have taken to the streets of Kuala Lumpur to call for the resignation of Prime Minister Najib Razak. Najib has been struggling to stay in power after leaked documents in July allegedly showed he transferred some seven-hundred million dollars to his private accounts.
